What is Azure?

You have probably seen or heard the term Azure. Not surprising, because it plays a big role in the IT landscape, but what does it mean exactly? We will take you into the world of Azure. So grab a cup of coffee, and read along with us. ;)

What is Azure ?

Azure, or Microsoft Azure, as the name suggests, is a solution from Microsoft. It is a cloud computing solution or a cloud platform. Before we can explain exactly what Azure is, we first need to examine cloud computing. Cloud computing is simply the provision of computing services over the Internet. Microsoft is a solution that combines the three cloud computing solutions IaaS, SaaS and PaaS. Nice those abbreviations, but what exactly do they keep? IaaS Infrastructure as a service is the virtual provision of infrastructure. For example, a customer does not have to purchase the infrastructure such as servers, workstations and network equipment. The customer often only pays for what is actually used. The operating system is in the cloud. Saas Software as a Service, also known as Software on-Demand is software offered as an online service. For example, the customer does not have to purchase the software and can, for example, purchase the software monthly. The SaaS provider then takes care of the installation, maintenance and management of the software. PaaS Platform as a Service is a form of cloud computing that is offered as a service. It provides customers with a platform that allows them to develop, run and manage applications without building and maintaining the app themselves. In addition to combining these forms of cloud computing, Microsoft Azure offers a cloud service storage. Azure is flexible and hybrid, making it easy to adapt to the needs of every customer.
